Back in the summer I photographed the wedding of Mel and Ben at Newland Hall Wedding Venue in Essex. Over the years I have photographed many weddings at Newland Hall, which is a superb wedding venue, with excellent facilities, great staff and lovely gardens/grounds. Mel and Ben were very specific about what type of wedding photography they wanted, in short, Bohemian!
Bohemian Weddings are not really my style, but I am always up for a challenge and I do like to experiment. Until their wedding day I had not even met Mel and Ben and the plan was to be at Newland Hall about an hour before the wedding to get a few shots of the couple and their three children before the wedding and then take it from there. The couple were married in a lovely ceremony outside in the Gazebo adjacent to the Marquee with all their family and friends in attendance. The weather that day was perfect and after the ceremony I took the opportunity to photograph some formal family groups for the couple.
With the formal photographs out of the way it was time for the wedding breakfast and speeches. The food at Newland Hall is delicious and I have been lucky enough over the years to try to most of the food on offer, which has always been very good. After the wedding breakfast I photographed the speeches which is always a fun part of any wedding day.
After the speeches and at just the right time of day I took the couple for a walk around the lakes and grounds at Newland Hall for a few pictures of them alone. The sun was setting over the lakes which made for a perfect backdrop for some Bohemian style wedding photographs. As I have mentioned before Newland Hall as some great locations for some stunning wedding photographs and you really are spoilt for choice.
Then it was time for the cake cutting and first dance, which as can be seen for the photographs was really fun! Below are a few of my favourite images from this lovely wedding.
