Hedingham Castle Wedding | Victoria and Luke

Hedingham Castle

Weddings at Hedingham Castle are very popular and rightly so as it is the quintessential castle wedding venue. Recently I photographed the wedding of Victoria and Luke at this popular Essex Wedding Venue. The wedding took place in December of 2015 and the weather that day was anything but pleasant. In fact, it was a typical English winter day, wet and wild. Despite the horrible wind and rain this was a fantastic wedding for two lovely people.

Victoria and her bridesmaids prepared for the big day in the Garden Cottage in the Castle grounds along with her mum and son Riley, who I have to say was the best-behaved child I have ever seen at a wedding. Not that Victoria and the girls needed it but, make-up artist Sarah Drummond was on hand and did a fantastic job making them all look even more beautiful.

Despite the difficult conditions I did manage to get a few shots of Luke and the groomsmen just before the wedding ceremony which took place in the Banqueting Hall beneath a Norman arch in the castle. As can be seen from the photographs the couple had some very cute flower girls who seemed to really enjoy having their picture taken.

After the ceremony I took the couple up to the Minstrels’ Gallery for a few pictures of them alone. As with all winter weddings I am always chasing the light and with that in mind and the risk of further rain we left the castle for some formal group photographs outside the main house so that the guest could quickly go inside if they had to. Victoria and Luke were brave enough to have a few more pictures of them by the castle and on the bridge before the cold and lack of light were too much, and we had to go inside the main house.

The staff at Hedingham are second to none and run a very tight ship making everything run smoothly and with little fuss. I have photographed quite a few Weddings at Hedingham Castle and have been lucky enough to sample the food at most of them and I can honestly say that it is extremely good!

Suitably refuelled and with guest having enjoyed a lovely wedding breakfast it was onto the speeches in the marque, which on this occasion were all very good. Finally, after quite a long day for me it was time for the cake cutting and first dance. Victoria and Luke very kindly did a review for me which can be found here: Essex wedding photographer reviews.
