The Best Western Ivy Hill Hotel just off the A12 between Brentwood and Chelmsford in Essex is an excellent venue for a wedding and so far this year I have photographed two weddings there including that of Jo and Alex. All weddings are emotional, but this one was especially so as Jo and Alex were emigrating shortly after their wedding to Australia and by the time of this post will be there.
The day started off at the Ivy Hill Hotel with photographs off Jo and her bridesmaids as they prepared for the big day. The Hotel has some lovely rooms that are large and airy making for some great photographs, a few of which can be seen below. From there it was on to St Mary The Virgin Parish Church, Fryerning and photographs of Alex and his best man. This is a particularly beautiful church set in some lovely Essex countryside.
After the lovely marriage ceremony it was off a few miles down the road to the Ivy Hill Hotel for the reception. The hotel is a fantastic wedding venue with some beautiful well manicured gardens simply perfect for wedding photography. After the customary formal/group photographs it was time for some shots of the bride and groom on the own, and there is plenty of space in the gardens to get away from everyone for some special moments with the happy couple. As can be seen from the photographs Jo was a truly beautiful bride so I could not help but get a few shots of her on her own in her wedding dress.
Jo and Alex were kind enough to treat me to a meal whilst they and their guest were enjoying the wedding breakfast and I can vouch for the fact that the food at the Ivy Hill Hotel is very good. After the meal it was time for the speeches which again got fairly emotional and even had me shedding the odd tear, but I managed to keep my composure to capture a few special photos for Jo and Alex and their wedding album. Finally, it was time for the cake cutting and first dance. This was a very special wedding for me which I thoroughly enjoyed photographing.
Due to the lack of time between the wedding and the couple departing for Australia I had to quickly get the photos to them so they could choose those they wanted in their wedding album. Luckily we managed to get the album designed, manufactured and delivered in less than a month, which is a record for me. Below are a few of my favourite photos from the wedding:
