Dee and Gareth’s lovely wedding at Horsley Park
I have photographed many weddings, but never one at Horsley Park so I was delighted when Dee and Gareth commissioned me to photograph their wedding day at this prestigious surrey wedding venue. To avoid any surprises and as the venue was new to me I took the opportunity to visit it before the wedding. It was great to find that there are lots of fantastic backdrops for wedding photography.
The Wedding Day
Horsley Park is quite some distance from my home in Essex so it was quite an early start for me to be there on time. I normally like to begin photographing about two hours before a wedding and I manage to arrive slightly early, which was great for the stress levels. Dee and her bridesmaids were getting ready in the bridal suite, which is a lovely room with plenty of space and light. Gareth and most of the bridal party also prepared in the Hotel making it a lot easier for me to find them all for photographs. The mansion is very big with lots of fabulous locations for photographs. I like to capture the atmosphere of the day which includes getting some candid pictures of the guest arriving and relaxing in the lounge etc. I take lots of photographs of the bride and bridesmaids getting ready, but I try not to leave out the groom and groomsmen. With this in mind I took Gareth, his best man and chief usher outside, and out of view of Dee, for a few photographs of them before the wedding.
As you can see in the photographs Dee looked amazing in her beautiful wedding dress and it was nice to see Dad Derek with a little tear in his eye when he saw her for the first time.
Dee and Gareth were married in a lovely ceremony in the main hall at Horsley Park, with their family and friends looking on. It was a very happy and emotional ceremony and it’s obvious that the couple are deeply in love.
The weather that day was a little gloomy and overcast so I was anxious to get on with the formal photographs the couple wanted before it got any worse. I always carry backup studio lighting just in case the weather is too bad and we have to do photographs inside. Horsley Park has plenty of room should that be required. Luckily I managed to fit all the formal photographs in before it got too dark or started to rain. I then spent about half an hour with Dee and Gareth alone to get a few nice portraits of them in and around the beautiful grounds and architecture of Horsley Park.
With the majority of my work done it was time for the wedding breakfast and whilst the bridal party and guest enjoyed theirs, I was also treated to a superb meal in the bar area. The food at Horsley Park is second to none so I can highly recommend it for that alone. After the meal it was time for the speeches. cake cutting, bouquet throwing and first dance, before my long drive home to Essex.
Horsley Park Wedding photographs
As with all my blog posts it wouldn’t be the same without some photographs, so here are just a few of my favourites from the day. If you would like to talk to me about your wedding at Horsley Park please contact Barry Paffey Photography.
