Penshurst Place Wedding
In September of last year I photographed the wedding of Emma and Dave at Penshurst Place in Kent. Penshurst Place has got to be one of the most picturesque places to hold a wedding. The buildings date back nearly 700 years and the gardens are simply magnificent! However, my day started off at Emma’s parents home in Bexleyheath where I photographed Emma and her bridesmaids as they prepared for the big day. From there it was a short drive to St Mary’s Church, Bexley for the wedding itself.
Before the wedding there was just enough time for a few photographs of Dave and his best men as they nervously waited for Emma to arrive. Unfortunately the vicar was a little uncooperative and allowed very little photography inside the church. None the less I still managed to capture a few vital shots of the ceremony and register signing etc. After the service there was time for some photographs of the bride and groom being spayed with confetti by the many enthusiastic guests. Emma and Dave’s wedding cars were a little different from the norm, a lovely white convertible VW Beetle and VW Camper Van.
From Bexley it was off to Penshurst Place and Gardens for the reception. The journey took about thirty minutes and I managed to get ahead of the happy couple and capture some shots of them arriving in the open top beetle. Penshurst Place is a fantastic Kent Wedding Venue and great place to visit even if you are not attending a wedding. There was relatively little time to get all the photographs required before dusk and more importantly the wedding breakfast. However, after a few more photographs by the wedding cars we walked the short distance to the gardens. You really are spoilt for choice at Penshurst Place and Gardens as there are lots of great backdrops for wedding photographs.
Just before the wedding breakfast there was just enough time left for some formal group photographs in front of the main hall. The wedding breakfast was held in the historic grand hall complete with open log fire. I stayed until the first dance, capturing the fun of the speeches and cake cutting along the way.
I am not really known as a Kent Wedding Photographer, but it’s less than thirty minutes from my home a I really love going there. I certainly hope I get another wedding in Kent soon and especially if it’s at Penshurst Place as I just cannot recommend the venue enough.
Below are a few of my favourite photographs from Emma and Dave’s fantastic wedding:
