I am a firm believer that you are never too old to learn and that you never stop learning. For me that means practicing my craft as often as I can to perfect my technique so that I am not grasping for a manual when I am on a real job, like someones wedding or a portrait shoot. With this in mind, from time to time, I invite a model to pose for me while I try out something new or for that matter test some new equipment. This not only helps me it helps the model as she or he gets some new photos for their portfolio free of charge. So just recently I wanted to test some radio triggers for my flash guns that I have had for a while now, but never really got around to using them in anger. The location for this shoot was a rather chilly beach at Southend in Essex and I used a model I found on a web site called Model Mayhem. As you can see from the photos Becks is a great looking girl who is quite experienced at posing despite only really being an amateur model. Hopefully some of what I learnt on this shoot will come in handy one day at a wedding, especially if I ever get to photograph one near a beach.
