In August I photographed the wedding of Charlotte and Dean at the lovely parish church of St. Margaret, Downham, Essex. The reception was held in a large marque in the garden of Dean’s parents home, also in Downham. Garden weddings seem to be ever more popular these days and this was a truly grand occasion set in a beautiful garden in the heart of Essex.
The day started off in Billericay, my home town, where I photographed all the bridal preparations at Charlotte’s parents home. As can be seen from the photographs Charlotte is extremely beautiful and a true pleasure to photograph. Charlotte and her bridesmaids had a great time getting ready and I always enjoy photographing the fun of this part of a wedding day.
One of the features of this wedding were the lovely vintage cars owned by Dean’s father who is a very keen collector. Luckily, apart from a slight shower in the morning the weather held good for the journey to and from the church in the cars. The church was packed with the couples family and friends who were treated to really nice wedding service.
After the service it was back to the house and garden just a mile or so up the road from the church. Luckily I manage to get all of the formal/group photographs completed just before the heavens opened and we were treated to a torrential downpour for what seemed like hours. Despite all the rain the marque stayed dry and everyone enjoyed a very nice wedding breakfast, including myself, followed by some great speeches.
The rain did eventually stop and I managed to take full advantage of the lovely gardens to get some more shots of Charlotte and Dean on their own before the light went away and faded into night.
It’s always a great privilege to photograph a wedding and this one was really special. Everything about it, apart from the rain, was fantastic and even the rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of the lovely Charlotte and Dean. Below are a few of my favourite photographs from this superb wedding:
