Friern Manor Weddings
Last year I photographed the wedding of Billie and Tom at Friern Manor Wedding Venue in Essex. Friern Manor is a superb location and one that I really like to photograph at. The staff are friendly and very professional making for a very stress free and organised day. The location is easy to find and within a short distance of some major trunk roads and the towns of Basildon and Billericay, which is great because I live in Billericay. Coincidentally so do Billie and Tom so it was just a very short drive from my home to capture some shots of Billie and her bridesmaids getting ready on her wedding day. I very much like this part of wedding photography because it gives me a chance to get a feel of how the rest of the day will be.
From Billie and Tom’s home I preceded to Friern Manor to get some shoots of Tom, his best man and the ushers before Billie arrived. The day was a little overcast and there was a threat of rain but, luckily we managed to avoid any.
The couple were married in a very emotional and in parts funny civil service surrounded by their family and friends. After the service I took the couple to the front of the building for a few pictures of them alone by their wedding car. Then they joined their wedding guests in the garden for some drinks and canapés. The formal group photographs were a bit of a challenge, as they can be at times, with me getting lots of stick from Billie’s Dad who, suffice it to say, is a bit of a character. With the formals out of the way it was time for the wedding breakfast and speeches. The food at Friern Manor is exceptional and I was treated to the usual delicious three course meal, always a highlight of my visits there. After the meal I set about photographing the speeches which were very funny, especially Billie’s Dad who had everyone rolling about in stitches.
After the wedding breakfast I took the couple aside for a few more pictures of them alone in and around the the lovely gardens at Friern Manor. Then before long it was time for the cake cutting and first dance. This was one of those weddings that makes me feel really good about my job, it was a real privilege to witness a lovely couple getting married and to capture some pictures that hopefully they will treasure for a lifetime.
