Maidens Barn Weddings are very popular and last August I photographed the wedding reception of Steph and Luke at this lovely Essex Wedding Venue. Maidens Barn is situated just south of Great Dunmow in Essex a few miles off the B1008. It is in a beautiful part of the Essex countryside. However, we were unfortunate on the day of the wedding to be treated to some particularly wet weather. However, the weather could not detract from what was a lovely wedding.
Steph and Luke were married in St Mary’s Church, Great Baddow in what was a really nice wedding service surrounded by all their family and friends. Because of the rain all of the formal group photographs were taken inside the church, funnily enough, that is what happened the previous time I photographed a wedding their. The after a quick dash from the church to the wedding cars it was on to Maidens Barn for the reception.
Fortunately Maidens Barn has plenty of indoor cover should it rain with a very large arbour that leads into a beautiful garden with views over the open countryside. Despite the bad weather I still managed to capture some shots of the couple and their guests before it was time for the receiving line and wedding breakfast.
The wedding breakfast took place in the lovely barn which dates back to 1806. The large windows and high ceilings create an open and airy effect and the old beams and subtle lighting perfectly blend the old with the new. An upstairs gallery provides some great wedding photo opportunities. Steph and Luke very kindly provided a meal for me which was simply delicious, so I can highly recommend the catering at Maidens Barn.
After the meal it was time for the speeches, always a fun time and something I really enjoy. Then with the food and speeches out of the way it was time for the evening entertainment. Steph and Luke had a band play for them and when I left after the first dance everyone seemed to be having a great time!
Below are a few of my favourite images from this lovely wedding for a lovely couple:
