Back in June I photographed my first African Wedding at Stock Brook Country Club near Stock in Essex for Chipo and Farai. To say this was a colourful wedding would be an understatement! Having never photographed an a African Wedding before I had no idea what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised by the spectacle of it all. Not only did the bride and groom look fantastic but virtually everyone who attended looked fantastic too.
For this wedding I was joined by a second photography, my good friend Mark Varney, who captured a lot of reportage/candid type pictures and a great deal of what you see below are his photographs. Mark also went to the bride and groom’s home in the morning to get pictures of the boys getting ready whilst I got some shots of Chipo, who prepared for the big day at Stock Brook. Mark was also on hand to see the boys off on their helicopter ride to Stock Brook where they made a very spectacular entrance.
The African blessing was held on the lawn at the rear of Stock Brook and was a very solemn yet grand occasion. After all the formalities were completed we photographed the formal groups including a large group photograph taken from the balcony overlooking the lovely gardens at Stock Brook.
It is also worth mentioning at this stage that we were also joined by Neil from NDR Films who was filming the occasion for the couple. I have worked with Neil on many occasions and he is a fantastic wedding videographer.
With the formals completed it was onto the wedding breakfast and speeches in the superb banqueting suite at Stock Brook. As is the norm, the staff had gone out of there way to produce a truly superb setting for the couple and all the guests to enjoy, and as can be seen from the photographs it looked simply stunning! With the guests all in place it was time for the grand entrance of the bride and groom, and boy was it grand! The music and dancing were fantastic with everyone cheering as Chipo and Farai made there way onto the dance floor. I cannot over emphasise the grandeur and spectacle of the occasion.
Eventually after all the speeches and fabulous dancing we had just enough time before dusk to get some photos of Chipo and Farai alone in the gardens and around the eighteenth green. This was a very grand occasion and I would love the chance to photograph another one soon.
